In October 2023 we celebrated 10 years Library and Learning Centre of the WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. This event got us to review how many things we adapted in the first and last 10 years, which caused us to change and how easy or difficult it was to implement.
Nikolaus Berger is Library Director of the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) for over 15 years. He was hired by the WU in 2008 to develop and implement a new library system. The WU build an entire new campus and they changed from typical 1960/1970 century library system to a future orientated centralized organization. Nikolaus was responsible for the new WU Library Strategy 2018. In his employment history it is shown that he has been working for over 15 years for the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. His last position was Director Knowledge Management for Germany, Austria and Central Eastern Europe. In this position one role was to head up the worldwide library management board of the firm. He is a board member of several professional associations, speaks at different conferences in Europe and international and wrote some papers.
