Designing Library Services Within Limits? Or Maybe Little Beyond Them? And How to Dream and Plan in Times not so Good for Dreaming and Planning? CZU Experience, with a Sprinkle of the Nationwide Co-Operation
At any given moment, every library has its limits. Space, finances, time, team. These certainly need to be taken into account when planning any development, including the design of library services. Many other circumstances also come into play. Support from the university administration, plans for the development of the university as a whole, technology development, the overall development of libraries (inter)nationally, changes in higher education. What are the limitations? When not to be afraid to try to push the boundaries a little? When do examples and collaborations push the boundaries of possibility? I am going to share experiences and situations that have influenced decisions about the development of our library services over the past few years. Situations where we are not sure what spaces the library will operate in, yet we are constantly trying to make improvements for our users. How to maintain the library as a unique place and space while blending in with the university. How do we blend in but do not get lost? I look forward to thinking about and discussing some of these important questions together.
